Intro-Ballet & Tap

(Kindergarten - 1st Grade)

Introduces dancers to the foundational steps and grace of ballet. French ballet terms will be built upon and added to their ballet vocabulary. Dancers will also be introduced to the rhythms and fun of tap.

Ballet

Ballet teaches skills that are challenging, rewarding and lays the foundation for most other dance forms.  Ballet requires strong technique, alignment, placement, balance and grace.  Dancers that begin their training in ballet can quickly transition into other styles of dance.

Pre-Ballet & Tap

Dancers entering 4-K in September.

Foundations of ballet are introduced along with basic French ballet terms.  Tap rhythms and basic steps will also be introduced. Use of props will make this combination class a favorite.  OUR CURRICULUM PROVIDES A FUN & EXCITING DANCE ADVENTURE!  Monthly themes with coordinating music & props brings adventure to life with your little dancer! PLUS students will receive fun bonuses to help them learn & celebrate their progress!

Intro Jazz

(Kindergarten - 1st Grade)

Introduces dancers to Hip Hop and Jazz steps, terminology, and technique. (Must be taken with Intro Ballet & Tap).

Jazz

Jazz is a dance form that appeals to most everyone because of its energy, variety and vitality.  Dancers develop strength, flexibility, alignment and coordination while listening to contemporary music.  Jazz classes can range in styles from lyrical to percussive.

Tap

The quickest and most effective way for a student to learn rhythm and musicality is through a tap class.  Students create feet rhythms while learning to be aware of their classmates tapping sounds so all taps appear to come from one dancer.

Hip Hop

GDA’s Hip Hop classes expose students to classic hip hop as well as newer forms that have evolved such as Breaking, Locking, Popping, Jazz-Funk and Stomping.

***Must be enrolled in Jazz

Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre combines elements of theatre and dance to create an entertaining, show stopping performance.

Students will enhance their "facials", musicality, and acting skills.

***Must be enrolled in a Ballet or Jazz class.

Acro Dance

GDA's AcroDance instruction is based on a comprehensive and internationally recognized syllabus. Generations Dance Academy is a certified Acrobatic Arts Studio.

AcroDance is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements to create a unique, fun art form.

AcroDance is not the same as gymnastics. An AcroDancer must complete all of the skills on the hard stage without the advantage of a sprung floor, while seamlessly intregating musciality, emotional expression, extension, control, and line. Skills taught in AcroDance might look the same as gymnastics, but are taught differently to compensate for the conditions.

This class is designed to give students an opportunity to explore new physical abilities.  AcroDance is also helpful to any aspiring dancer.  Students that train in both dance and Acro have balanced development, become stronger, more flexible and well-rounded performers.

***Must be enrolled in Ballet or Jazz

Lyrical

Students enrolled in a ballet class may also take Lyrical & Contemporary. This combined class will introduce students to the newest and most popular performance genres’.

Lyrical:  Lyrical dance is a fluid and controlled form of jazz combined with ballet technique.  Leaps, turn and dance tricks will be introduced to build stamina and strength.

Contemporary:  A mixed style of dance borrowing from classical, modern and jazz styles.  Contemporary dance utilizes both the strong and controlled legwork of ballet and modern dances stress on torso movement.  Floor work, fall and recovery and improvisation are characteristic of Contemporary dance.

***Must be Enrolled in a Ballet Class

GDA Competition Teams

Our Competition Teams are designed for dancers who love to perform and compete, and who desire a more intense level of training.  This training goes well above just dance education; it’s a total education.  Dancers grow in confidence and competence through dance classes, rehearsals, community involvement, competitions, and more!

Dancers are placed in our companies based on their ability through an audition process.

Pointe

Pointe is fun and exciting, and is the pinnacle of the aspiring Ballet dancer's training.  At the same time it necessitates great strength in the feet and ankles to execute the movements correctly and safely.  With this in mind, there are several requirements:

Must be in Ballet III or Ballet IV and have instructor recommendation.

GDA Dancers in 2nd grade and up are invited to be a part of our Parade Team!  GDA's Parade Team is award winning, and a crowd favorite because of the level of entertainment and talent.

Parade season begins in June and runs through December/January.

There are no auditions for our Parade Team.  Sign up will begin in February/March of 2023.
